TAFE Queensland and the Australian Industry Trade College established a partnership 10 years ago, that gives students the opportunity to complete secondary education while developing trade and technical skills simultaneously. The outcome has seen a surge in school-based apprenticeships and specialised training programs, including training days for young women, resulting in hundreds of girls trying animal husbandry, hospitality, floristry, construction, automotive, engineering, tiling, dental assistance and horticulture.

Rob Jones, TAFE Queensland Gold Coast, Director of Faculty, Trade Industry Skills, says, “We value the partnership, as it exposes young people to skills that assist in employment pathways, while providing flexible training to students and employers”.
